The attack on an oil tanker in the Bab al - Mandab strait near Yemen

هجوم مسلح على ناقلة نفط بمضيق باب المندب قرب اليمن

Unknown gunmen attacked an oil tanker on Wednesday in the strategic Bab al-Mandab strait in the Red Sea near Yemen in the latest violence in the region through which much of the world's oil passes.
"The attackers fired rocket-propelled grenade launchers on the Marshall Islands flag (MT Muski) in the south of the Bab al-Mandab Strait," the EU's naval force said in a statement.
The tanker's cargo is 70,362 tons, "a spokesman for the force said." The attack does not appear to be carried out by pirates and is likely related to the continuing unrest in the sea off the coast of Yemen. "
Ships have been attacked off the coast of southern Yemen in recent months by Houthi militants fighting the Saudi-backed government.
About 4 million barrels of crude oil a day, as well as other commercial goods, pass through the Bab al-Mandab Straits to Europe, the United States and Asia.
