What is "Bitcoin"?

The name Bitcoin has passed a lot of readers, especially those who follow the technical news from them, but without a full briefing about what "Petcwin" or how to use and how to work. In this article, we will talk in a simplified way about "Bitcoin" and the idea behind it and how to use it.

What is "Bitcoin"?

Petcin is an electronic currency that can be compared to other currencies, such as the dollar or the euro, but with several fundamental differences, most notably that this currency is a fully electronic currency that is traded online only without a physical presence. Unlike traditional currencies, there is no central regulatory body behind them, but can be used as any other currency to buy online or even convert them into conventional currencies.

The purpose of this currency, which was first floated in 2009, is to change the global economy in the same way that the web has changed the methods of publishing.

Decentralized currency

The idea of "Bitcoin" was first introduced as a research paper by a person who called himself the symbolic name "Satoshi Nakamoto", describing it as an electronic monetary system that relies in financial transactions on the principle of peer-to-peer peer-to-peer, a technical term means direct interaction between a user and another without a presence mediator.

"Bitcoin" is described as an anonymous digital currency, meaning it does not have a serial number or any other means of any kind that allows tracking what has been spent to reach the seller or buyer, making it a popular idea for both privacy advocates or sellers Illegal goods (such as drugs) are online alike.

KFH provides financial transactions between two people directly without any intermediary regulating these transactions. The money goes from one user account to another immediately and without any transfer fees and without passing through any banks or intermediaries of any kind.

The currency is generated by the users themselves

Unlike conventional currencies that are usually backed by certain assets such as gold or other currencies, KFHWIN is supported and produced by the users themselves. Users mean any user who wants to deal with KFHW and has a computer and Internet connection. This is done through a process called Mining, a special application installed by the user on any computer so that the application process the production of new "Bitcoin" and slowly. Through this process, the user can obtain the default Virtual PCCU in exchange for the application's use of the computing power provided by the user's computer processor to generate new amounts of currency.

When a new set of coins is created for each user, these amounts are distributed according to a certain algorithm so that the total value of the Pitcin coins in the market cannot reach more than 21 million KFU. Users with higher processing power With the extent of production of their currency.

The expenditure of "Bitcoin" or converted to real currencies

Although there is a relatively limited number of sites that accept the payments of KFH for their products, compared to the sites that deal with traditional currencies, KFHWIN is supported by an increasing number of websites, including large and diverse companies and websites, Domain names, social networks, video sites, music, and diverse sites that sell different types of products.

In addition to buying the products, the user can change his or her cash-in-cash items into other real currencies. This switch is made between the users themselves, who want to sell the money and buy real currencies, or vice versa. As a result, Bitcoin has its own exchange rate, which is heading up to $ 120 from $ 1 a couple of years ago.

Technically

Technically, each piece is a code generated by the famous and powerful encryption algorithm SHA-256 in hexadecimal format. The user's "Pitcuin" pieces are stored in a special file called Wallet. This file also retains every address the user has sent or received money from. Each user has the address "e-mail", which can be compared to the e-mail address, but it is not. It is a specific code that distinguishes each user but can not indicate his or her true identity. KFHWEN is a fully open source and therefore there is nothing hidden or unknown in its way of working.

International recognition

Germany is the only country to officially recognize the currency as a form of electronic money. The German government has therefore ruled that it can tax the profits of companies that deal with KFH, while individual financial transactions remain tax-free.

A federal judge in the United States recently ruled that "Bitcoin" is a currency and a type of currency and can be regulated by the government, but the United States has not officially recognized the currency yet.

Some believe that official recognition has a positive side, which is to give the currency more legitimacy, while others believe that this may open the door to further regulation of the currency and linking it to governments, and this is contrary to one of the features of "Bitcoin" as a currency not subject to any party.

A captain leaves a French traveler on an island in the Indian Ocean

قبطان يترك مسافراً فرنسياً بجزيرة في المحيط الهندي

A French passenger was expelled from a luxury cruise ship by the captains and left on an Indian Ocean island.
The captain's decision came after the traveler's rebellion over the non-stop of the ship on two islands that were scheduled for the flight stations, according to a report by the British newspaper Telegraph.
Dream turns to jail
It was supposed to be a dream cruise around the Vanilla Islands of Madagascar, Morris, Reunion, and Seychelles aboard the Costa New Rivera.
But French chef Alain Jean, 53, who rode aboard the ship with his wife from the French islands of La Reunion in the Pacific, on 26 October
2017, said the ship had been turned into a "floating prison".
Two days after the trip, the unrest began when the captain announced that three stops had been canceled in Madagascar because of the plague on the island.
Madagascar is currently experiencing a lung and lung disease epidemic, which the World Health Organization (WHO) says poses a major threat to the wider Indian Ocean region. More than 1,000 people have been infected in the country and more than 100 people have died.
"We agreed, because the decision was made for health reasons, and in any case there were two other remaining flights in Nuzi Bey and Diego Suarez," Allen told Le Parisien newspaper.
But the next day, the passengers were informed that the other stops were canceled and that the boat would not go to Mauritius.
150 euros
Things got worse when they learned they would get 150 euros in compensation; "Things are starting to get worse, 150 euros and a large part of the trip has been canceled, and the drink on board costs 5 euros!" He said.
When Mr. Jean failed to receive an adequate answer from the crew, he launched a petition. "That evening we organized a protest in the restaurant, and there were 60 of us beating our fists on the table to alert other passengers to what we were doing," he said.
When the captain refused to change course, rebel passengers staged a second protest in the theater when the boat approached the island of Seychelles.
The captain contacted the local police chief, who came to the ship.
"I heard the story from the two of us and asked to speak to the French ambassador. Then the captain asked the captain if he wanted to come down," he said.
Mr. Jean and his wife were escorted out of the boat, but there was a positive side to their expulsion.
"I'm happy to be expelled!"
"I spent two nights at a Seychelles hotel with my wife and then we went back to our house at the expense of Costa, and that's how we got free of the floating prison," Jean told Le Parisien.
As soon as he returned to his hometown of Reunion, Jean went to meet the remaining passengers as they descended, and many complained that they were "treated like cattle" and "stolen."
He and others claimed that "Costa" was known to have contracted the plague several months ago, but deliberately disguised the departure of the flight program from the passengers.
Costa Croisos denied the allegations. "The company made an effort to avoid canceling stops in Madagascar and looked for all possible alternatives," it said in a statement.
While understanding the "disappointment of passengers wishing to wait for every stop on the Costa Nuevera route," he said that "the safety, health and well-being of passengers and crew is an absolute priority."
He added that the health authorities in Mauritius expressed "serious concern" about the situation in Madagascar, which requires a stone of health; to ensure that there are no sick passengers.
"Given the delay caused by this, or the delay that would have caused the occurrence of suspicious cases onboard the ship, and given that the passengers were already on board - the company was forced to restrict its trip to Seychelles and Reunion only"

How is the check digit of a container calculated?

20' HC Container Number GVTU 300038-9

The owner code consists of three capital letters of the Latin alphabet to indicate the owner or principal operator of the container. Such code needs to be registered at the Bureau International des Conteneurs in Paris to ensure uniqueness worldwide (per ISO 6346).
The equipment category identifier consists of one of the following three capital letters of the Latin alphabet
  • U for all freight containers
  • J for detachable freight container-related equipment
  • Z for trailers and chassis
The serial number consists of 6 numeric digits, assigned by the owner or operator, uniquely identifying the container within that owner/operator’s fleet.
The check digit consists of one numeric digit providing a means of validating the recording and transmission accuracies of the owner code and serial number.

Calculation Step 1
An equivalent numerical value is assigned to each letter of the alphabet, beginning with 10 for the letter A (11 and multiples thereof are omitted):
The individual digits of the serial number keep their numeric value.

Calculation Step 2
Each of the numbers calculated in step 1 is multiplied by 2position, where position is the exponent to basis 2. Position starts at 0, from left to right.
The following table shows the multiplication factors:

Calculation Step 3

a) Sum up all results of step 2
b) Divide them by 11
c) Erase all decimal digits of the division (i. e. make the result an integer value)
d) Multiply the integer value by 11
e) Subtract result of d) from result of a): This is the check digit!
If the final difference is 10, then the check digit becomes 0.
Steps b) to e) is a calculation of the remainder found after division of a) by 11. 11 is used as divisor because a container number has 11 letters and digits in total. In step 1 the numbers 11, 22 and 33 are left out as they are multiples of the divisor.

The Omani Ministry of Transport and Communications announced on Sunday the sinking of a commercial ship off the coast of Oman flying the flag of Tanzania following the leakage of sea water to the hull of the ship

The ministry said in a statement quoted by the Omani News Agency - that the ship accident, which occurred 6 miles north-east of Ras al-Lokbi in the province of Al-Jazzar in the central province was coming from the United Arab Emirates and heading to the Republic of Eritrea.

The ministry said the ship was loaded with general cargo consisting of sand and iron bars with 20 sailors rescued by a fisherman in the area.

She pointed out that the efforts of the concerned parties in the Maritime Security Center, the Royal Oman Navy and the Coast Guard Police are working together to maintain maritime security, environmental safety and marine wealth in the Sultanate, denying the news of the sinking of a Kuwaiti oil vessel.

Smart “Robot Containers” to Carry Aquaculture Products

A group of Norwegian graduates have developed smart “robot containers” with cooling systems that can sail to ports without any human interaction, classification society DNV GL informed.
The graduates developed SEAtrue, a supply chain for offshore distribution of aquaculture products. The consumer application TraceEat sends information about consumer preferences to the digital platform Veracity, which enables best possible use of resources. The seafood is transported in autonomous smart “robot containers” which employ sophisticated cooling techniques to extend shelf life.
The self-propelled containers are released from the processing vessel and either positions itself for pick up by a designated container ship or sails directly to a nearby port. That way, transportation by sea becomes more effective and efficient.
SEAtrue is a cutting-edge supply chain system that allows for optimal distribution and lower emissions. Moreover, it adjusts production to meet demand and thereby enhance a sustainable aquaculture industry,” project manager Ole Johan Lønnum, a marine technology graduate at NTNU, said.
Presented at DNV GL’s Høvik headquarter, the solution “can revolutionise production and distribution of aquaculture products,” the classification society said.

Why do ship crashes continue?

لماذا تستمر حوادث اصطدام السفن رغم تقدم تكنولوجيا الملاحة؟GETTY IMAGES
Although oceans are vast and navigational technology is well developed, conditions are still favorable for ocean collision incidents, such as the collision of a US-destroyed oil tanker a few days ago. What precautions can we take to prevent disasters of this kind in the future?
In the middle of the night, off the coast of Malaysia, a huge ship loaded with about 12 thousand tons of oil hit the left side of the US Navy destroyer "John S. McCain," named after the father of US Senator John McCain, and his grandfather.
Ten sailors from the destroyer are still missing, but the ship has now settled at Singapore's Changi Air Base.
The incident was particularly dramatic, as it took place just two months after a similar incident. The USS Fitzgerald crashed into a large cargo ship off the coast of Japan, killing seven sailors.
Although the ships that collided in the last two incidents are huge and equipped with radar and navigation systems at the highest level, as well as the existence of GPS to track the location of ships and the availability of wireless communications, how are collisions of this type? What precautions can we take to prevent their recurrence?
"As long as you monitor the radar and monitor the situation at sea moment by moment, collision events can be avoided," says Peter Roberts, director of military science at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSSI).
Although we do not know after the recent crash, some ships rely on the equipment, not the crew, to warn of an imminent collision.
Roberts says he traveled on merchant ships, where the driving rooms were sometimes completely empty. "The siren goes off from the radar and relies on this whistle to alert the person in charge of the surveillance mission, whatever."
Roberts adds that what is surprising is that two incidents of this magnitude in a few months, including each ship of the US Navy, "This is rarely happening," he said.
Of course, it is not a coincidence that the two US naval vessel collisions at this time are coincidental, but some raise questions about the possibility of a criminal suspicion or intentional damage or damage to ships. For example, it penetrated ship navigation systems to increase the likelihood of a collision ?.

At least one report indicates that the GPS receiver may have been deceived, affecting one ship in the Black Sea in recent months. Some observers have been concerned about the involvement of some countries in penetrating ship navigation systems in order to keep them off track.
There is no evidence yet that the recent collision of Fitzgerald and McCain resulted from the intentional deception of GPS, despite the spread of conspiracy theories over the Internet. Roberts says this possibility deserves study.
"We should not rule out any of the possibilities at the moment."
Large ship collisions occur from time to time, although some are not exciting enough to attract media attention.
Another collision occurred between two cargo ships off China's Fujian coast just one or two days before the American destroyer McCain. For example, the incident reportedly killed sailors aboard the ships.
"Investigators who investigate the causes of such accidents often find that human error is the main cause of the accident, not the deliberate destruction," says Heinrich Outh, chief executive of the Marine Survey Service, a Danish marine surveying firm that contracts ship insurance companies.
The company's investigators have encountered many cases in which crew members have already helped avoid imminent collisions with other ships, he said.
"When there's a bug, it's easy to blame the ship's captain, but we do not pay tribute to him every time he saves the ship," says O'Huth.
The risks to ships and their crews are not limited to collisions. A few days ago, a British ship, MV Cheshire, loaded with thousands of tons of manure, has been burning. The fire has been raging so far and washed away a few days ago near the Canary Islands. Helicopters have helped evacuate the crew from the ship.
The seas are becoming more overcrowded, and the number of merchant vessels in the world is increasing. According to British government statistics, the global merchant marine fleet was about 58,000 at the end of 2016. If the size of the fleet is measured by weight, it is doubled since 2004. So, will we see an increase in the number of crashes?
GETTY IMAGESO

wth believes that the financial crisis of 2008 led to a reduction in the profit margin achieved by many shipping companies, which led to a reduction in spending on crews.

"Cargo companies should look for and maintain crews of competent personnel, and individuals should know about the ship and make it well because it is a complex device," says O'Huth.

Any large ship with a mix of people who speak different languages, come from different nationalities, and follow safety procedures that vary from one country to another makes it more difficult to maintain the safety of the ship, he said.

Arun Sorensen, a former navigator and head of the maritime regulation and technology division of the International Maritime Council (BIMCO), said one of the recent concerns was the sailors' reliance on technological devices.

"Instead of staring at the hardware, you have to look through the window to see how the situation actually evolves," Sorensen said.

Sorensen says ship workers are also looking at surveillance and imaging devices, and do not care to follow the situation themselves from the windows.

But Sorensen referred to attempts by navigational organizations to find ways to reduce the likelihood of collisions.

One of the ideas cited is the separation of vessel traffic, which means coordinating the flow of vessels that pass through carefully packed straits by directing them towards separate passages in the same direction, for example.

The ship separation system was first implemented in the Dover Strait in 1967 and there are about 100 systems to coordinate ship traffic around the world.

There is no doubt that it is in everyone's interest to avoid collisions for many reasons. First and foremost, international laws and regulations stipulate that both parties are responsible for such collisions.

This means that ship captains are bound by law to avoid colliding with another ship, even if their ship has the right to remain in orbit.

Although recent incidents are worrisome, Owth says there is reason to be optimistic about shipping, pointing out that the number of total losses, for example, when the ship sinks, is falling year after year.

The total loss is intended to exceed the value of the damage or the value of the repair of the insured subject, according to the insurance company's estimate, the value of the insurance policy.

According to data from Allianz Insurance Company, there were 85 total losses in large vessels in 2016, a decrease of 16 percent from last year. Of the total losses of 85 cases, only one resulted from the collision.

Technological development has, in many ways, contributed to increased safety in shipping, but the lives of seafarers are still at risk.

With the increasing number of ships sailing the world's seas, the need for a captain to command these giant ships has not diminished, and their presence on board has become more important than ever.
