The Omani Ministry of Transport and Communications announced on Sunday the sinking of a commercial ship off the coast of Oman flying the flag of Tanzania following the leakage of sea water to the hull of the ship

The ministry said in a statement quoted by the Omani News Agency - that the ship accident, which occurred 6 miles north-east of Ras al-Lokbi in the province of Al-Jazzar in the central province was coming from the United Arab Emirates and heading to the Republic of Eritrea.

The ministry said the ship was loaded with general cargo consisting of sand and iron bars with 20 sailors rescued by a fisherman in the area.
